COVID-19 Safety Protocols – Let’s avoid contagion
As is public knowledge, COVID-19 and its inseparable variants have not yet been eradicated from our daily lives. Although it’s no longer news of the day, COVID-19 still continues to silently make people sick, and in some cases, people with a pre-existing health condition or compromised immune system may suffer deadly consequences.
It’s necessary to understand that this protocol is optional, so each person has to take self-care into their own hands in order for this Assembly to be successful. SOMOS MÁS (We Are More) careful with our lives and the lives of others.
RECOMMENDATIONS: Perform a COVID-19 test, if possible, in your organization at different times, or not all at the same time, 24 hours before the trip.
RECOMMENDATIONS: If, on the day of the trip, you have any symptoms, please notify your coordinator as soon as possible. You must take another test, and if it comes back positive, we strongly recommend that you stay at home and that you contact the entire group to do tests for the entire group.
RECOMMENDATIONS: If, in a delegation, there are more positive COVID-19 cases, and they have shared space within the prior 24 hours, we recommend that you notify NDLON and, as soon as possible, Débora González at (203) 543-1430 or Nadia Marín-Molina at (516) 984-5755.
ASSEMBLY PROTOCOL: Upon the arrival of the delegations on Sunday, June 2nd, the National Health and Safety Volunteer Team will have two tables close to the registration area. It’s necessary that delegations check-in at these tables to receive COVID-19 tests and a safety package with Personal Protective Equipment (face masks or KN-95 masks for each participant).
RECOMMENDATIONS: We will have tables where COVID-19 tests will be administered. This may be uncomfortable for some people, but we know that their health, and that of the participating community, is the highest priority.
RECOMMENDATIONS: During the Assembly, any person(s) with (a) pre-existing health condition(s) or compromised immune system(s) are recommended to use a face mask or KN-95 in closed spaces. If you run out of safety packages, do not hesitate to notify us and ask for more. The Health and Safety Team, named below with contact numbers, will be in quick contact with the coordinators or group leaders.
RECOMMENDATIONS: If any participating person feels any of the following symptoms: fever, generalized headache and body pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, etc., please notify your leader/coordinator or Débora González (203) 543-1430 or Chele Azucena (346)-473-1215 immediately.
If a person tests positive for COVID-19 at the assembly, do not worry. NDLON has a procedure to keep them in a safe, isolated place to avoid further infections. NDLON staff will ensure that they have what they need (e.g., food, water, and any other necessities).
Remember that catching COVID-19 is not a crime, so please report it as soon as possible and let us support you in the best way possible!
